NKOTBSB Release 'Don't Turn Out The Lights' Single

Group first teased the song back in December and are set to tour together this summer.

The Backstreet Boys have finally quit playing games with their fans' hearts. After giving a sneak peek of their first collaborative single with the New Kids on the Block — whom they'll be hitting the road with for a massive tour this summer — called "Don't Turn Out the Lights," NKOTBSB have now released the song in its entirety.

The peppy pop number, complete with synthesizers and the obligatory name-drop ("NKOTBSB," they announce at the beginning of the track), which was produced by Eman and written by Claude Kelly, features the sing-along chorus, "So don't turn out the lights now, lights now, lights now/ 'Cause in a minute we'll be feeling like never before/ So don't turn out the lights now, lights now, lights now/ I'll be whatever you need and more."

Vocals by members of both groups — BSB Nick Carter's and NKOTB's Jordan Knight's contributions are easily recognized — are featured on the three-and-a-half-minute dance-ready song, which sounds like a modern version of their hits from the '80s and '90s (think Jason Derulo). Likely to strike a chord with hard-core fans, the song is about rekindling a romance that's begun to fizzle: "I know we haven't been getting along at all/ I don't think that it's time ... I don't wanna say goodbye/ 'Cause just when I think it through/ The memories come flooding back/ It's like instantly I love you like that."

"Don't Turn Out the Lights" is the debut single off NKOTBSB's first album together, a self-titled record slated to drop on May 24.

As promised recently by Knight, in addition to "Don't Turn Out the Lights," the Backstreet Boys will "record probably a couple more songs with" New Kids.

Since it's not the first time the groups have performed music together (they memorably did a mash-up of New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys songs during the 2010 American Music Awards), it seems they've built a good rapport with one another. The guys are ready to share the stage to perform hits from both groups' repertoires as well as new songs like "Don't Turn Out the Lights."

"It's gonna be nonstop back-and-forth action. We're really gonna play off each other," Knight explained.

What do you think of NKOTBSB's "Don't Turn Out the Lights"? Tell us in the comments.

Exclusive: Ke$ha Talks Writing Britney Spears' 'Till The World Ends'

'It's an honor to write for one of pop music's biggest icons,' she tells MTV News.

Britney Spears' new single, "Till the World Ends" is dance-floor ready — just ask Ke$ha. The pop star in her own right wrote the just-released track, which was produced by Dr. Luke and Max Martin.

"I consider myself a songwriter before and above everything else, so it's an honor to write for one of pop music's biggest icons. And I hope it gets everyone's ass on the dance floor cuz y'all know that's what K-Monay does best!" the singer said in an exclusive statement to MTV News.

The single was posted by Perez Hilton on Thursday afternoon (March 3), after speculation earlier in the day that it would hit radio next week.

"Till the World Ends" is a swirling, "beat the beat" track, ready for late nights spent "dancing till the world ends" as she sings on the fast-paced party jam. "This kitten got your tongue tied in knots I see/ Spit it out 'cause I'm dying for company," a confident Spears purrs.

Later in the song, she sings: "See the sunlight/ We ain't stopping/ Keep on dancing till the world ends/ If you feel it/ Let it happen/ Keep on dancing till the world ends."

Last month, Ke$ha talked with Spin.com about the song, saying it's about the power of an artist performing a great gig. "That song is me imagining her and any female musician touring the world," she said. "You know, when you go out, and you're having an amazing, magical night and you don't want to go to sleep and you want it to last until the world ends."

This new track is the latest single from Spears' forthcoming Femme Fatale, which drops March 29.

Wer spricht, verliert ? wer schweigt, gewinnt!
Ne pas se pencher au dehors!
Besser nicht hinauslehnen!
E pericoloso sporgersi!

Wer hrte da bei Nacht die Salven hallen?
Die Zeitung schrieb: Es war nur ein Verkehrsunfall!
Wozu die Fuste in der Tasche ballen?
Geschossen wurde nicht das erste Mal!
Was redest du mit gelber Heuchelmiene:
?Ich kenne diese Menschen nicht!??
Da berlebst du hinter der Gardine
Und die andern fallen im Licht ?
Ne pas se pencher au dehors!
Besser nicht hinauslehnen!
E pericoloso sporgersi!

Britney Spears 'Stumbled Upon Me' For Femme Fatale, Sabi Says

'I grew up watching Britney Spears,' pop newcomer tells MTV News about landing a feature on '(Drop Dead) Beautiful.'
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Audrey Kim

There are three collaborations on Britney Spears' brand-new Femme Fatale. Black Eyed Peas leading man will.i.am produced and appears on "Big Fat Bass," Travis Barker lends his drumming skills to the bonus track "Don't Keep Me Waiting," and the club track "(Drop Dead) Beautiful" features a newcomer: singer/rapper Sabi.

MTV News caught up with Sabi a few weeks before Britney's album dropped on Tuesday and, at the time, the pop newbie was still pretty floored about her appearance on the album, which is the focus of "Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale," a special airing Sunday at 9 p.m. ET. on MTV.

"The way I understand is that Britney Spears is constantly looking for [new stuff and] had an ear out for new talent and fresh music," she explained. "Somehow, she stumbled upon me in my old group days. I was in a group called the Bangz.

"And it's just pretty crazy, I mean, I grew up watching Britney Spears," she added. "All my friends watched Britney Spears and we even had a routine to 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' that we were gonna perform, like, for a middle-school talent show. So it's a dream come true. Never did I ever think that I'd be in the mix with Britney. I'm just lucky."

In fact, the opportunity to work with the pop star was so surreal that Sabi refused to believe her luck until the ink was dry.

"I was like, 'Absolutely not,' " she joked about her initial response to the collaboration offer. "Duh! I was like, 'Yeah!' I don't know, it was crazy. I was like, 'This is surreal.' I'm the kind of person that's like, once I hear good news, until it's solidified and I see the actual proof it's a done deal, I [don't] get excited. I was like, 'This is great, but so many things can happen in between the time I'm supposed to record it.' But when it was solidified, I was like, 'Wow, this is crazy.' It's dope."

What do you think of Britney's collabo with Sabi? Tell us in the comments!

Don't miss "Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale" on Sunday, April 3, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.

Jake Gyllenhaal 'Just Fascinated' With 'Source Code'

'There are a million ideas that come out of it,' actor tells MTV News.
By Kara Warner

Jake Gyllenhaal
Photo: MTV News

In addition to the thrill ride and action-oriented aspects the "Source Code" trailers and TV spots are selling — as well as the film's very capable leading man, Jake Gyllenhaal — the plot's underlying subject matter leaves a lot of room for discussion and debate.

When MTV News caught up with Gyllenhaal recently during the film's press day, we asked him how the idea of occupying someone else's mind for eight minutes appeals to both his sci-fi and philosophical interests.

"First, I was just fascinated with the idea, the concept of what the Source Code was because it felt like the center of the movie is this computer program," Gyllenhaal explained. "So I thought, 'Well, does this hold water?' And then I thought, 'It does because it's a computer program that allows somebody to go into the body of another person for the last eight minutes of their life.' Had it been a computer program that allows somebody to go into somebody else's body, just anybody's body, it wouldn't be interesting, but this plays on the usurping of the electromagnetic impulses in the brain right before somebody dies."

Gyllenhaal went on to say that the idea of going back into a catastrophe and figuring out how it happened was particularly interesting, and he hopes it leaves audiences wanting to explore their own analysis as well.

"It opened up a world of possibilities, philosophically, for me," he revealed. "And psychologically, what effect does this have on the human brain, the person experiencing it, but at the same time, what effect could it have on history and what could it be used for? It was just fascinating: There are a million ideas that come out of it."

Check out everything we've got on "Source Code."

Moon Bounce ? Who Do You Know?

For many of us, “moon bounce” is reminiscent of childhood birthday parties full of inflatable toys that weren’t really all that great past the age of 7 except that you sort of had free reign to get a little violent with your friends with impunity as long as you were within the confines of that plastic netted cube. But today, Moon Bounce refers to something much better, the music by the Philadelphia electronic artist Corey Regensburg. And the music sounds pretty much just like the name implies, like some sort of intergalactic adventure that is wayread more and hear the song

Lady Gaga Celebrates Birthday At Los Angeles Concert

Mother Monster tells the crowd at her show on Monday that her fans are 'the best birthday present you could give me.'
By Kara Warner

Lady Gaga performs at Staples Center on Monday
Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images

LOS ANGELES — A Lady Gaga concert is unlike any other live music event for two reasons: First, Mother Monster obviously puts on one helluva show — passionate, energetic, etc. — and second, there's the amount of effort her most dedicated fans, the Little Monsters, put into their unbelievable, outrageous and scandalous ensembles. Braving the teeming masses in the floor section of a Gaga concert is like being dropped in the midst of a half-naked, sparkly, Lycra-filled Halloween parade.

So was the scene on Monday night at the Staples Center, where Gaga shared her blood, sweat and tears with the nearly 20,000 screaming audience members ... on her 25th birthday, no less.

"I'm going to kick your ass tonight!" Gaga declared after her opening number, "Dancing in the Dark," and at the start of "Just Dance." She challenged the crowd to stay on their feet and to be themselves, which became the theme of the evening.

"The Monster Ball will set you free," she said during a beat between "Just Dance" and "Fame." "You can be whoever you want to be."

Naturally, the crowd ate up every word Gaga spoke, particularly her words of encouragement and love for her fans.

"Thank you for the best birthday present you could give me," she said, indicating that the present was her fans themselves. "Thank you for still buying tickets to my show. Thank you for believing in my music."

And in between the heartfelt thanks, the Lady left room for joking around. She told the crowd that her dad had advised her to be extra careful during her birthday performance because her fans will throw gifts up onstage. "He said, 'Please be careful what you put in your mouth.' " Also, when one concertgoer indicated that they had brought her Nutella, she said she had to politely "rebuke" the gift because she had to prep for the "Judas" video.

Besides Gaga's words of wisdom and heartfelt thanks, of course, there was plenty of her chart-topping music. The major highlights of the show — in addition to a rousing "Happy Birthday" sung by the crowd toward the end of the evening — included "Born This Way," which Gaga performed twice: the first, a stripped-down version she delivered at the piano and accompanied with an inspiring story regarding a long-desired pair of ruby slippers and dreams that really do come true ("Someday someone will hand you a pair of ruby slippers!"); the second, her show-stopping second encore. Also very worthy of a mention were "Alejandro" — the choreography performed by Gaga's extremely talented and acrobatic core of dancers was incredible — the new ballad "You and I" and the always-killer "Bad Romance."

Do you have belated birthday wishes for Lady Gaga? Share them in the comments.

Michael Jackson Wrongful Death Suit Vs. AEG Can Proceed, Judge Rules

Katherine Jackson and family are pursuing a claim against concert promoter.
By Gil Kaufman

Michael Jackson

When he was alive, Michael Jackson was forever embroiled in a series of complex and expensive-sounding lawsuits. But even in death, the late King of Pop is the subject of major legal action. None could potentially be bigger than the wrongful death lawsuit filed by the pop icon's mother, Katherine Jackson, against concert promotion giant AEG Live.

Reuters reported that a Los Angeles judge ruled on Wednesday that the civil lawsuit can go forward. It will proceed in parallel with the criminal case against Jackson's physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, who has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with Jackson's June 2009 death from an overdose of the powerful surgical anesthetic propofol. Murray is the only person charged in Jackson's death and he is currently awaiting trial in that matter.

Katherine Jackson's lawsuit — filed in September on behalf of her and Jackson's three young children — accuses AEG of being responsible for the medical decisions made by Murray, whose salary was paid by the touring company behind Jackson's attempted "This Is It" comeback shows in London. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos denied a motion on Wednesday by AEG to dismiss Katherine Jackson's suit, but warned Jackson's attorneys that they would need to show evidence of "fraud, negligent infliction of emotional distress and civil conspiracy" in order to win the case.

The judge has already said she doubts they can prove the latter charge, because the suit does not detail any agreement between Murray and AEG to break the law in providing medical care to Jackson.

"If the object was to get him to rehearsals, I don't see that as a wrongful or illegal act," the judge said. A lawyer for AEG told the judge that the company could not have predicted beforehand that Murray's medical decisions would result in Jackson's death. Court papers also show that AEG "did not choose to hire Murray" and had only participated in negotiations to bring him on as an independent contractor. Michael, who had previously been treated by Murray in Las Vegas, was reportedly the one who suggested the cardiologist serve as his personal, on-call physician during the "This Is It" rehearsals and shows.

Katherine Jackson's attorney recently dropped choreographer Kenny Ortega from the lawsuit based on new information they received about his actions. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for March 22, just six days before Murray is due back in court for his trial. Jackson's father, Joseph, has twice attempted to file a wrongful death suit in the matter, though his is focused on Murray and the Las Vegas pharmacy that supplied the propofol, not AEG Live.

Ke$ha Postpones Japan Tour Dates

Ne-Yo, Cyndi Lauper continue to perform in the country following earthquake.

As the people of Japan continue to struggle with recovering from the nation's devastating earthquake and tsunami, some artists are being forced to cancel their tour dates in the nation. Ke$ha released a statement on Monday announcing that she would have to postpone her upcoming dates in Japan.

"My heart is with Japan right now through this disaster and these hardships," the singer wrote on her website. "I genuinely don't think right now would be appropriate timing for me to perform in Japan given the content and the spirit of my show, which is all about feeling exuberant, rowdy, and wild. ... I plan to bring my party there and to that part of the world when we are all ready to dance and Get $leazy together again. In the meantime I am going to do everything I can to help relief efforts and I encourage everyone in the world to do the same."

In the meantime, Ke$ha has a string of North American dates kicking off on April 1 with a show in Clarion, Pennsylvania, and running through early May.

According to Billboard, the promoter of the scotched Japanese tour, Creativeman Productions, also announced that it would be canceling a pair of its annual spring festivals. The Springgroove, an R&B, soul and hip-hop festival scheduled for April 2 near Tokyo and April 3 in Osaka, would have featured Nelly and Flo Rida, among others. Also called off was then annual hardcore Punkspring festival on April 1 and 2 in Osaka and Nagoya with headliners Good Charlotte and Hoobastank.

Ne-Yo continued with his planned dates in Japan over the weekend, performing a show in Nagoya on Friday and launching a charity initiative to help the people of the country. Called "Spread Love Through Music," the show included donation boxes at the concert to help those in need and the sale of a special wristband with proceeds going to earthquake relief. He plans to do the same during his shows on Tuesday (March 22) in Yokohama and Thursday in Tokyo. "You can absolutely spread love through music, and I think that's what's absolutely called for in this time of crisis," he said in a video on his website.

Also currently touring Japan is Cyndi Lauper, who is slated to play a show in Osaka on Tuesday and was in the country promoting her Memphis Blues album when the quake hit on March 11. She's been tweeting about her experience all along, and on Monday, she wrote about the healing power of music in the shattered country.

"Miss my family but have my music family and the warmth of the peeps I sing to. Tonight I will lose myself in the music and the rhythm," she wrote. Like Ne-Yo, she is asking fans to donate cash at the shows to earthquake relief and is donating all royalties from sales of her Blues album in Japan to the Japanese Red Cross.

Britney Spears' Femme Fatale Is Her 'Strongest Album,' Critics Say

Leading pop critics praise the 'craftsmanship' on the singer's 'great dance pop' release.
By Jocelyn Vena, with additional reporting by Christina Garibaldi

Britney Spears
Photo: Jive

On Tuesday (March 29), Britney Spears released her latest album, Femme Fatale, to much fanfare and critical praise.

Femme Fatale is a dark, churning, cohesive 12-track record that will have fans on the dance floor from beginning to end. From the opening track and current single, the Ke$ha-penned "Till the World Ends," to the last, the slower "Criminal," the momentum never stops.

Peppered in the mix are dance tunes complete with dubsteps, feisty breakdowns, NSFW lyrics and thumping beats. Spears hooked up with a number of chart-topping producers and songwriters, including Dr. Luke, Max Martin, will.i.am and Claude Kelly.

The Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am also lent his vocals to their "Big Fat Bass" single, while pop newbie Sabi lent hers to the song "(Drop Dead) Beautiful." And Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker shows up on one of the deluxe-edition tracks, "Don't Keep Me Waiting."

"Femme Fatale is definitely Britney's strongest album overall," Ian Drew, senior music editor at Us magazine, told MTV News. Drew, who gave the album four stars, added, "The songs speak for themselves; it's unapologetically a great dance pop album."

Adam Markowitz, an Entertainment Weekly correspondent, gave the album a solid B+.

"It works for her because it shows that she can continue to produce really solid material," Markowitz told us. "This is a totally strong, cohesive album."

While her manager, Larry Rudolph, recently compared the new album to Madonna's Ray of Light, Drew had a different Madge comparison in mind.

"It reminds me of Madonna's Confessions on a Dance Floor, which is a similar album," he said. "You put it on as you're getting ready all night and going out on the town and you can keep it going. So this is one of those records you can put on and there isn't a weak track, which is great."

Femme Fatale easily stands up to one of Brit's strongest releases, Drew said. "I would say up until this point Blackout was her best album, and that's what this album really compares to because Blackout was nothing but great dance pop."

Markowitz agreed, noting that her latest album shows off the many sides of Spears. "There's no looking at this album and not seeing a lot of craftsmanship on it. I think it's a great showcase for her personality and her vocal styles. She sounds really lively on the album," he said. "It's about as good as Blackout, which I think surprised everyone as being a pretty strong album."

For more on the making of the album, fans can check out the upcoming MTV special, "Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale." A trailer with more details premieres Tuesday night at 7:58 p.m. ET on MTV.

Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray's Trial To Be Televised

Judge rules that camera will be allowed in the courtroom for manslaughter case.

For what promises to be one of the most bizarre and riveting legal proceedings in years, a Los Angeles judge ruled on Monday that a television camera will be allowed in the courtroom when Michael Jackson's doctor goes on trial for involuntary manslaughter.

Reuters reported that Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor, approved the presence of a camera in the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray as long as it does not interfere with the proceedings in the closely watched case.

The judge asked for the "absolute least-intrusive placement" of a TV camera in the courtroom, but blocked cameras from documenting jury selection.

Pastor also announced that he would bump up the opening date of the trail by four days to March 24, at which point jury selection will begin. Murray, who faces up to four years in prison if convicted, has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the trial is expected to last around six weeks.

Cardiologist Murray was hired to be Jackson's personal physician in the run-up to the King of Pop's planned 50-date comeback series of shows at London's O2 arena in the summer of 2009. The doctor told police that he provided Jackson, 50, with sedatives and the surgical anesthetic propofol in order to combat the singer's chronic insomnia. He said he did so on the morning of June 25, 2009, when Jackson died of what a coroner deemed acute propofol poisoning.

TMZ reported on Tuesday (February 8) that Murray's lawyers plan to argue that Jackson was already in weak health before he died and that it's unfair to blame propofol for his passing. Unnamed sources close to the case told the gossip site that at the time of his death, Jackson's body was already failing him in part because concert promoter AEG Live had "driven [him] over the edge" with a rigorous rehearsal schedule for the shows.

Murray's lawyers reportedly plan to call witnesses to say that Jackson was not showing up for rehearsals and when he did he showed "clear signs" of frail health. They also reportedly plan to argue that it was Jackson who administered the final, fatal dose of propofol to himself while Murray was out of the room.

Slowly but surely, fans are getting a taste of what Britney Spears' March 29 album release, Femme Fatale, will sound like. On Wednesday, Spears slowed things down with the tease for her track "Criminal" and psyched fans up with the news that she worked with Travis Barker on the album.

Fans are speculating that the next single released will be the Ke$ha-penned track, "Till the World Ends." Art for the single's cover, in which Spears appears sitting on a couch in a sweater and heels, was posted at Deezer.com.

A 30-second snippet of the song appeared on Amazon.de, which indicates that the single will be available on March 11. The track sounds like a fist-pumping anthem, and the sample showcases Spears' electronically enhanced vocals going "Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh."

The single will reportedly drop sometime next week, according to a tweet sent out by Tampa radio station 93.3 FM. "Hearing from Jive Records that we'll have a new @BritneySpears single to play next week!"

Ke$ha recently dished about the track to Spin.com, noting that the song is about the power of an artist performing a great gig. "That song is me imagining her and any female musician touring the world," she says. "You know, when you go out, and you're having an amazing, magical night and you don't want to go to sleep and you want it to last until the world ends."

Spears' longtime manager Larry Rudolph recently told MTV News that he's super-excited about the next single off Femme Fatale. "I don't think I've been this excited about releasing a Britney single in many, many years," he said. "It's that good. That's all I'm gonna say about it at the moment. I haven't heard a final mix of it, but I should get it in the next day or two. So far, what I've heard is just extraordinary. It really is amazing. Her fans will be very happy with it. I'm trying hard to get it out before the album comes out."

For those keeping count, it's not the first time Ke$ha and Spears have worked together. Ke$ha appeared on the Circus song "Lace and Leather." "I just did backgrounds for her 'cause I was so broke. I needed to pay my rent," she shared back in 2009. "I got a few bucks. No, [I didn't meet her]. I just did backups for her."
